How to manage your estimated data

Within Carbonhound you can add estimated values to your data so that you can get full coverage if you don’t have exact data for a specific source or period.

Estimated Data Types

There are two types of estimated data within Carbonhound:

  • Manual Estimates

  • System Generated Estimates

Manual Estimates Guide

To create manually estimated data when entering activity for a source there is an input that says “Estimated Data” and you can indicate yes or no.

Non Estimated Data

If you indicate that the data is not estimated you will see “Bill” as the data source within your activity table.

Estimated Data

If you indicate that data IS estimated you will see “Estimate” as the data source within your activity table.

Generating Estimates for Location Energy Sources

To generate estimates for any location energy source navigate into the source details you want to estimate.

  • Select “Generate Estimates”

  • Select if this location is separately metered

    • If your utility provider is measuring usage for your business separately from your building then select yes, if you only get a total bill for an office and you have to scale it select “no”.

  • Enter your office square footage

    • If you have selected that it isn’t separately metered you will have to also enter the building square footage.

  • Select how you want to generate estimates

    • Fill Gaps

      • Populates estimated data for the missing data portions within your data.

    • Overwrite Existing Data

      • Clears existing data and re-populates it with estimated data

  • Select “Save”

  • View your estimated data populate

    • It can take a few seconds for the estimated data to populate. Try refreshing your screen if you don’t see data right away.

System Generated Estimates
